Elton John knows how to make a splash on stage and this weekend (29 May) he did just that for international sportswear brand BURRDA when he revealed its new Watford FC home kit at his concert at Vicarage Road.
The kit marks the beginning of a new partnership for BURRDA as Watford FC’s Official Kit Supplier and Sponsor.
Those lucky enough to be at Saturday's concert will have seen the singer wearing the new 2010/11 replica shirt on stage as well as holding up an additional replica shirt before throwing it into the crowd.
The home strip once again features black shorts and this time has a red trim on the sleeves and round the neck, while there is also a retro red and black strip running down the shirt.
The back neck line is shaped with piping which frames an embroidered Hart from the Club crest and the base of the shirt is also finished with a red trim.
The two-year deal was announced last month and Watford's Chief Executive Officer, Julian Winter, is pleased the Club has gained a crucial new partner.
He said: "It's a competitive market out there and a difficult economic climate.
"We were in dialogue with a couple of shirt manufacturers and the idea of a shirt manufacturer taking a shirt sponsorship was something we discussed.
"It is a new deal for us and BURRDA and a great opportunity to build a successful partnership."
Charles Diab, General Manager BURRDA, added: "We’d like to thank Elton John for revealing the kit live on stage - that’s quite some way to make an impact for a new club partner with a man so intrinsically linked to the team. Elton has positive feedback on the design and the kit has lots of elements that the fans like such as the black shorts and the retro stripe. The vented neck is also a unique touch.
"We can’t wait to see the team kick off the season on August wearing it."
Guests from BURRDA were at Vicarage Road on Saturday to see Elton's homecoming concert and Winter is hoping to build upon the relationship over the next few years.
